Arsenal defeated Brentford 2-1 on Saturday to take the lead in the standings for the first time since December. The Gunners won their eighth straight Premier League game, and Mikel Arteta’s team is looking strong as they attempt to win their first championship since 2004.

Liverpool, meanwhile, is now in second place, one point behind the Gunners, but a win on Merseyside will send them back to the top, where they began the weekend. If City win at Anfield for the first time in three years, they will move up to the top of the standings. Currently, they are in third place.

Between now and the end of the season, there looks to be an exciting competition for the title, and former Manchester United midfielder Keane is just not able to predict it. He stated to Sky Sports: “To be honest, I wouldn’t know which camp to choose if you asked me which one I’d be in, and I’m including Arsenal.

“Arsenal are doing really well, they look strong physically, they look different to last year, but then you have Man City who have had Haaland out injured and De Bruyne coming back after months out, so it’s a really hard one to call.”

“Every football team is desperate to win football games and to win trophies,” Keane continued. Even though Manchester City and Pep Guardiola have already won a title this season, you have to consider the background and context of the match given that Jürgen Klopp will be leaving at the end of the campaign. I find it difficult to choose because of everything they’ve accomplished over the past few years, which has been amazing.

Jamie Carragher thinks that if Liverpool are going to go all the way this season, they have to defeat City. Liverpool is aiming for a second Premier League title in four years. “I think if Liverpool are going to win the league, they’ll need to look back at this game and see that they got three points,” he added.

“It’s not over if you draw or if you lose, but City have got a much tougher schedule over the next few weeks and if they drop points here, I don’t know if they’ll be able to make up the difference.”
“I don’t actually think Liverpool is a better team than Manchester City,” Carragher said in response to a question concerning whether Liverpool and City are stronger ahead of a crucial match.

They don’t, in my opinion, have any better players individually. However, the environment here at Anfield, playing at home, the vibe of the city, and the possibility that Klopp may not play Pep Guardiola here in the Premier League again are all factors that, in my opinion, might make a difference. Liverpool can have the advantage today because of all those small things.”
