What happened to Averett University professor?
DANVILLE, Virginia – Dr. David Hanbury, a professor at Averett University, was reported missing from an Orlando conference, and his body was discovered on Sunday. The community is in grief.
Orlando Police say that while the cause of death is unknown at this time, it doesn’t seem suspicious.

He was found dead, according to Orlando police, but they did not specify where in Orlando he was located.
His family notified university officials of his passing on Sunday afternoon.
When Hanbury first started working at the University in August 2015, he was an associate professor and the department chair of psychology. In addition, he was the chair of the Physical and Psychological Health Sciences division.
“On behalf of the entire University community, we sent our affection, condolences, and prayers of support to Dr. Hanbury’s family, friends, and all others on whom he had a lasting impact,” the university said in a statement.
