Los Angeles (AP): Friday night, Los Angeles defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 101-94.

Anthony Davis scored 23 points and pulled down 19 rebounds, while D’Angelo Russell made the most 3-pointers in a single season for the Lakers.

After losing their previous seven games against the Sixers, the Lakers ended their losing run thanks to LeBron James’ 20 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. It wasn’t until March 3, 2020, when Los Angeles defeated Philadelphia.

Using their strength and fortitude,

James scored 11 points and Davis added 9 in the fourth quarter, defeating a tenacious Philadelphia defense.

Each club finished the game with a single-digit lead, and the Lakers had their lowest scoring output since January 3 due to 21 turnovers.

Though it was ugly, James recalled, “we got the job done.” “In the second half, we performed a strong defense.” In the fourth, they only scored eighteen (points). When the offensive was having such difficulty, that was really problematic. After giving up too many easy baskets and too many turnovers, we tightened up and forced them to make tough shots while we were in the half-court.

By the middle of the first quarter, Russell had already eclipsed the record for most 3-pointers made by Nick Van Exel in the 1994–95 campaign. The Lakers held on for their seventh win in 11 games, led by Russell, who finished with 14 points and four 3-pointers. The Lakers had not played since Monday, when they defeated Atlanta.
Being involved in one of these kinds of transactions, in Russell’s words, “just feels good.” “I am quite delighted to have my name associated with this highly esteemed franchise. If I can, just keep breaking it. Make it really difficult for the person after you.

Poor shooting and Philly’s usually aggressive defense combined to make it a difficult evening for Los Angeles, which appeared offensively sluggish in its comeback. Until James made his first 3-pointer of the game with 2:11 remaining, neither team had a lead of more than seven points.

Coach Nick Nurse of Philadelphia commented, “I thought we played unbelievably hard (and) executed the game plan.” “We simply didn’t have enough offensive to stay in there, in my opinion. I can put up with that as long as we play with everything we have. I think we played so hard and did such a good job that I’m finding it difficult to accept it at the moment.

The Sixers, who have dropped seven of ten games during MVP Joel Embiid’s prolonged absence, were led by Tyrese Maxey, who scored 22 of his 27 points in the second half. Tobias Harris had 16 points and 13 rebounds in his comeback after a three-game absence due to a sprained right ankle, while Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 19 points. As of right now, Philadelphia’s four-game road trip along the West Coast stands at 0–2.

Harris remarked, “With Joel out, it’s created opportunities for other guys.” In the big picture, though, we also understand that this club needs to find ways to produce that kind of offensive. Our inability to get stops on the opposite end harmed us in tonight’s game because some of our best offensive came when we were in transition.

After playing with Kobe Bryant as a rookie and being selected by the Lakers in the 2015 draft, Russell was traded back to Los Angeles during the previous season. In his second season with the Lakers, he has been a prolific scorer from outside the area. On Monday, he tied Van Exel’s record with six 3-pointers.
