Tokyo. In a shocking revelation, baseball player Shohei Ohtani disclosed his marital status.
The statement “The season is approaching but I would like to announce to everyone that I have gotten married” was posted by Shohei Ohtani in Japanese on Instagram on Thursday.
He made no attempt to identify his new wife when he called her a “Japanese woman”. He claimed more would be disclosed in an interview, most likely at the Los Angeles Dodgers spring training complex.
Over the years, there has been a great deal of curiosity about the private life of Japan’s most famous person, Ohtani, who is 29 years old. Absent of controversies or tabloid stories, his emphasis and image have always been entirely baseball related.
After signing a record-breaking $700 million over ten years contract, Shohei Ohtani left the Los Angeles Angels to join the Dodgers in December.
“I began a new chapter in my career with the Dodgers, but I also have started a new life with someone from my native country of Japan who is very special to me,” wrote the pitcher.
“Conducting unauthorized interviews” is what Shohei Ohtani wanted the media to avoid.
There was a picture of his dog, “Dekopin,” or “Decoy,” in the Instagram post.
He wrote as follows: “We hope the two of us – and one animal – will work together.”
In the late afternoon in Japan, the news quickly became the most important story on local television after breaking in the middle of the night in North America. The Dodgers have become the de facto club in Japan, and local television often features stories about his training in the United States. As a result of his remarkable performance in North America, he has made himself into a national treasure.
The Dodgers will open the season in Seoul, South Korea, on March 20–21 with a two-game series against the San Diego Padres. Shohei Ohtani is training in Arizona for the Major League Baseball season.
Since his right elbow required surgery, Ohtani will not be able to pitch this year. Although he may play in the field, he will be employed as a designated hitter.
Shohei Ohtani launched a two-run home run against the Chicago White Sox this week in his spring training debut.
Ohtani has a career batting average of 274 and has hit 171 home runs, including 44 last seasons. In five seasons, he had a 38-19 record as a pitcher. He had elbow surgery in 2019, which kept him out of the season. His lifetime ERA is 3.01.
Due to his ability to play both ways, he has been likened to Babe Ruth. He won the American League MVP award in 2021 and 2023 and was named the league’s rookie of the year in 2018.
